cold and heartburn, blech

Okay, so the scratchy throat turned into a full blown, miserable cold. Stuffy head, sneezy, plugged up ears, headache, coughing, booooo.... so I spent the whole weekend in bed sleeping, watching movies, snuggling with kitties and drinking lots of fluids. I feel better today. Not 100% yet, but I think it definitely helped. I've also had a lot of heartburn the last week or so. Yuck. I've never had that problem before...

Mayhem's test results still aren't back. I was told they should be in tomorrow. They started her on a liquid antibiotic in the meantime... boy is that fun to administer! The vet said it tastes horrible. Yup, Maymay HATES it! But she's gotten better about taking it each time we have to do it again. We have to give it to her twice a day. I guess if she tests positive for toxoplasmosis, we have to continue these meds for a full month. Whoopie! Honestly though, she really is pretty good about it. She lets me hold her wrapped up in a blanket while Brian squirts the liquid into her mouth. The first couple times, there was a lot of struggling and she would clamp her mouth shut as tight as possible, but it's gotten a little easier since. I can't imagine what it would be like if we had to do that with Mischief! It would be impossible!

Here are the pictures I mentioned of Melissa and I from last week. :)

I also tested out the new Kodak Mini camcorder... it's alright. The video and pictures aren't the best quality, but that's to be expected since it's nothing fancy. Here is the first test video I took of Mayhem.

Ok, that's all for now I think. I have to get some things done around the house and rest a little more before work this afternoon... Talk to you all soon! :)

PS - Pat went home Saturday! :) Check out the blog...

Belly Button...

Today I am 26 weeks 1 day. Wow. I poked my finger in my belly button today and realized that it's super shallow! :) But it's still there.

I've had a scratchy throat and been really tired the last couple days. I'm afraid I may be coming down with a cold or something. I plan on taking it as easy as possible the rest of this week to hopefully fight it off quickly.

Melissa came over yesterday and brought a bag of maternity clothes and like 5 bags of baby girl stuff! We took some belly pictures of both our bellies together. I haven't uploaded them from my camera yet but when I do, I'll add some here. :) She's 24 weeks.

Last week I noticed our kitten, Mayhem, had a funny looking eye. I went into the vet and they were very concerned about it. They ordered some blood tests and referred us to an ophthalmologist in Portsmouth the same day. He looked and told me that the retinas in both her eyes are almost 100% detached and she has cataracts forming. Translate - she will be totally blind if she isn't already... :( The worse news was that the cause of this could be a mutated virus called FIP that is incurable and deadly.... Her bloodwork came back normal for her blood count, liver and kidney functions. The test for other viruses/diseases came back negative, but showed that she had exposure to the virus that mutates into FIP. I guess that isn't too concerning since it is pretty common and doesn't necessarily mean she has FIP. The vet thinks that if she did have it, some of her other test results would probably have been abnormal. He ordered a test for toxoplasmosis, that we are waiting to hear back about. She is acting perfectly healthy, just having trouble seeing, obviously. I'm nervous and I hope everything will be ok so she can live many more happy years with us! She's just a baby...

Yesterday, I got a great deal on a little Kodak Mini Camcorder - 70% off! I think it will be fun and handy to have for when the Super Bean arrives. :) We still have our nice video camera but it isn't always accessible. This one is so cute and tiny that I can keep it in my pocket or purse all the time!

Ok, that's all for now. My head kinda hurts and I'm wishing we had some ice cream left... guess I'll just relax with this cute kitten on my lap and watch some tv with the hubby... :)

Holy cow! Almost 3rd trimester!

So I just realized today that I'm almost in my third trimester. Wow! I'm not sure exactly which week starts it but I'm into my 26th week now. Here are my pictures from yesterday...

Super Bean moves around all the time. She is getting big and strong. Lately, I've been feeling a lot of 1-2 punches, bam, bam! :) And I'll feel one on one side of my body and another all the way over on the other side at almost the same time. Last week, I was saying to Brian that he should watch my belly because he hadn't seen her move on the outside yet. He was leaning in close talking and singing to her and she kicked and nearly hit him right in the nose! He said, "I saw that one!!" :)

For the last week or so, it has felt like I pulled my groin on both sides. Except I didn't. It just hurts like I did. I'm guessing that's round ligament pain...? And my butt muscles still get sore when I'm sleeping on one side for a while, so I switch to the other side and the same thing happens. Oh, and when I was going up the stairs the other day, I noticed a new chronic clicking sound coming from my right knee. If you didn't already know, I've had a weird crunching/grinding sound coming from my left knee for years, whenever I go down stairs or squat. So now I have one on the other side, to match. I'm guessing it came about from my increased weight. I just weighed myself and I'm at about +20lbs.

On a happier note, yesterday I was just sitting and feeling her move and thinking about how excited and happy I am. I am full of so much love, I could burst! If I think too long on it, I will start crying and get all emotional. :) I guess it's those lovely pregnancy hormones.

Also, quick update on Pat. She is doing really great. She's still in the hospital (on one hand I can't believe she's been in for a month already, on the other, it feels like it's been longer than that!), waiting until she is ready to get transferred to a Rehab place. Her PT is going well. She's in good spirits. Happy to be alive. She and my dad are talking about renewing their vows once she is all healthy again. :) I try to visit almost every day if I'm not too busy. If you look over to the right on this blog, you will see that I'm "following" the other blog I am writing on her progress. Feel free to check it out if you like!

Until we meet again....

24 weeks

Hello, I'm back for an update. I'm 24 weeks today. I finally uploaded some belly pics from the last 2 weeks. I'm feeling big, and I love it! Over the last couple days, I've noticed that I can see movement on the outside of my belly now. It's kinda weird but it's fun to watch. Brian has felt more kicks lately too. Pat even got to feel one the other day. :)

Speaking of Pat, she has been moved out of the CCU into a regular hospital room. She fully woke up from the coma several days ago and is now working on physical therapy to be able to move around well again. It's hard, and she'll probably be spending a good amount of time at a rehab facility once she is released from the hospital. Please feel free to check out another blog I created with information on her: PatDonation.blogspot.com - it has some more details and information on how to make a donation if anyone would like to help my parents out. We've already had several very nice donations, which is great. It's unfortunate to go through a situation like this but it really shows you how awesomely good people can be. :)

We finished our Hypnobirthing class last week. Now I just have to be diligent about practicing. With all that's been going on, I've been slacking, but hopefully soon I can get a good routine going. Including some more exercise.... I am taking the Wushu class at the dojo, which has been fun. My legs are sore from class last night. You should see me in my tshirt and uniform pants... my belly looks so big! I have to wear one of Brian's tshirts because mine are too short to cover my belly now. :) Maybe I'll get a picture next time.
